Change of character only matters when it breaks a swing that previously defined the active trend on that timeframe. Mark the swing clearly first. If you cannot point to it with a single horizontal line, you are not ready to call CHoCH.
On the daily chart, wait for a close beyond the swing, not a wick alone, before you promote the label. On lower timeframes you can be slightly earlier, but you still need a retest or a follow-through candle before you treat the shift as actionable.
